Don't Forget to Enjoy Today

I read something this morning by Joyce Meyer that has stuck with me today:

You can get so busy raising your children that you forget to enjoy them. You can get so caught up in cleaning your house, trying to pay for it, and remodeling it, that you forget to enjoy it. But you can learn to enjoy God so much that no matter what you do today, you can truly say, “I enjoyed it.”

Don't forget to enjoy your child today. You have one of the hardest jobs on the face of the earth as a mother. But this time really will pass quickly.

So today, buy your kids a bag of popcorn at Target to munch on while you shop, let your kids pick out their favorite candy bar or bag of candy, make ice cream sundaes, let them help you make chocolate chip cookies or a box of brownies, tell them about the day they were born, lay on the couch with them and watch a movie, and smell their hair when you take them out of the bathtub...

They may not remember everything about their childhood, but I promise, they will remember these things that they did with YOU. They will remember the silly little songs that you sang to them and how you slept on their bedroom floor when they were sick. They will remember how you baked their favorite cookies just because you knew it would mean a lot when they had a hard day. They might remember some of your bad days, too, but the good days will outnumber those.

Enjoy this day because you won't have another one just like it.

  1. You're so right! It's easy to get so caught up in the duties and responsibilities of the day that we forget simply to BE--to enjoy the life that we've been blessed with. Thanks for the reminder! Love those photos!

  3. Beautiful photographs! I'm out of mommy stage but quickly realized that I can totally apply the thoughts here to my grandchildren. I love the idea of telling them about the day they were born. ~Pamela
